Tamil Nadu government announces housing scheme worth Rs. 1,700 Crore

  • Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha has announced the housing scheme of worth Rs 1,700 crore.
  • The state government would build 2,300 flats with all facilities at Ambattur in Chennai at a cost of Rs 380 crore. She assured the cost of each two-bedroom flat will be below Rs 20 lakh.
  • Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) would build 2,800 housing units at a cost ofRs. 674 crore would in the districts of Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchi  and Vellore.
  • Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board would build 12,500 housing units in various corporations and municipality limits at a cost of Rs. 457 crore this current financial year. The slum clearance board would be sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for maintenance and repair of the old buildings which were constructed by it.
