Manipur Governor Syed Ahmed passed away following a brief illness on Sunday. He was 70.
- Mr. Ahmed was joined Congress from Maharashtra in 1977.
- Mr. Ahmed served as a Minister in the Maharashtra government from 2001 to 2004.
- He was elected to the Maharashtra assembly five times from the Nagpada constituency between 1980 and 2004.
- he was appointed Governor of Jharkhand on August 26, 2011
- He was sworn in Governor of Manipur on May 16, 2015.
- He has written an autobiography “Pagdandi se Shahar Tak”
Besides politics, Ahmed was an academician and litterateur with master’s degrees in Hindi and English and a PhD in Urdu.
