Renowned Hindi poet and Sahitya Academy awardee Viren Dangwal died in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh after a long illness. He was 68.

- In 1992, he got the Raghuveer Sahay Smriti Award for his poem Duniya.
- In 1993, he received Srikant Verma Smriti Award.
