Bengaluru’s ‘Golden Boy’ and India’s most successful billiard player Pankaj Advani bagged his 14th world title when he won the IBSF World Billiards Championship in Adelaide, Australia
- 30 years old Advani exhibited complete mastery over the three-ball game, demolishing Singapore’s Peter Gilchrist by 1168 points.
- The final score was Pankaj Advani 2408 beat Peter Gilchrist 1240.
- In August 2015 Advani won his 13th world title after defeating China’s Yan in the best-of-11 frame final in Karachi.
- Apart from such world titles, Advani also won gold in the 2006 and 2010 Asain Games.
- He was also honoured with Padma Shri in 2009, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honour for 2005-06,Rajyotsava Award, Karnataka’s highest civilian award in 2007.
The U21 saw S. Shrikrishna (India) defeat Ishpreet Chadha (India) and the Women event saw Arantxa Sanchis (India) Finsh over the top of R. Umadevi (India).
