- A powerful earthquake Magnitude 6.6 on Richter scale struck off Indonesia’s Papua provinces. More than 60 people suffered injuries and 200 houses were damaged.
- According to the US Geological Survey said the earthquake’s epicentre was at a depth of 24 kilometre north of Sorong, a town in Indonesia’s Papua province. However this under water earthquake had no potential to generate tsunami waves.
