Mountaineer Jot Singh awarded Tenzing Norgay National Adventure award

President Pranab Mukherjee awarded the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2015 to Indo-Tibetan Border Police official and mountaineer Jot Singh.
  • Singh, has been undertaking expeditions with the border guarding force for a long time, was decorated with the award during the national games awards presentation ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Inspector Jot Singh became 11th ITBP official to receive this honour till date.
  • ITBP is India’s mountain-trained armed force and also known as special force for mountaineering skills. The mountain-trained force has been deployed primarily to guard high altitude Indo-China border since 1962.
  • The force has scaled more than 200 peaks across the globe successfully and Inspector Jot Singh is one of the best mountaineers of ITBP, who has also scaled the Mount Everest.
