Ian Bell, the 33-year-old England’s record ODI run-scorer, with 5,416 runs in 161 matches has announced his retirement from One Day Internationals in order to completely devote his focus and attention towards his Test cricket.
- Bell has played 115 Tests – only four Englishmen have played more – and scored 7,569 runs at an average of 43 with 22 centuries and 45 fifties. However Bell has endured a difficult year, averaging 24.29 with one hundred.
- Bell is also a five-time Ashes winner.
- He managed only 215 runs at an average of 26.87 in the 3-2 series win against Australia, a record-equaling fifth Ashes triumph for an Englishman.
