Supreme Court has directed the state governments and union territories administrations to include the names of the acid attack victims in the list of disabled people.
- The decision has been taken by the bench headed by Justice M.Y.Eqbal andJustice C. Nagappan.
- The decision has come while directing the Bihar government to give enhanced compensation amount to Rs.10 lakh and Rs.3 lakh respectively to two Dalit sisters who suffered an acid attack
Earlier orders of the SC:
- In April 2015 all private hospitals in the country were directed to provide full and free medical treatment to acid attack victims.
- Fixing 3 lakh rupees as minimum compensation to the acid attack victims.
- Imposing complete ban on over-the-counter sale of acid.
