International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is organized every year on December 2 by the United Nations General Assembly.

• This day marks the anniversary of the United Nations adopting the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others, in 1949.
