Army Lieutenant General John Nicholson has been designated as the commander of the NATO forces in Afghanistan. He will succeed US General John Campbell.
  • Prior to this appointment, Nicholas was US Army commander of NATO land forces.
John Nicholson appointment was confirmed by the Senate Armed Services Committeeduring a Congressional hearing on Afghanistan.
