Rajya Sabha passes SC/ST Amendment Bill

The Rajya Sabha unanimously passed the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2015. The bill seeks to amend the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

• The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, aims to prohibit the commission of offences against members of the SCs and STs and provides for establishing special courts for the trial of such offences and the rehabilitation of victims.
